SESSION GUIDE
Preparing for your reiki session
To increase the flow of energy you may want to reduce the consumption of alcohol, meat, and smoking and increase your intake of fruit, vegetables and water on the day of the session.
If possible, try and avoid having a heavy meal before a session, although this is not essential.
Make sure you use the bathroom beforehand, so that you can enjoy the full session with minimum interruptions.
Try and wear loose clothing and remove any tight jewellery, so you feel as relaxed as possible without any restrictions on your body.
If possible, switch all electronic devices to ‘do not disturb’ for minimum interruptions.
You may wish to have water available at your side to drink if you are thirsty throughout the session.
If you’re having distance reiki, i’d advise that you take some time to find a comfortable place to lay down or recline where you wont be disturbed for the duration of the session.
Whilst its not essential, I always encourage my clients to think about their intentions for the session. Maybe it is to experience this energy healing for yourself and listening to a call of curiosity that you’re ready to act upon or if its a more specific need such as physical pain, anxiety and stress relief, developing self-love and esteem, mental clarity etc. You’ll have a chance to share these at the beginning before we start!
After your reiki session
Drink plenty of water! Hydration helps to keep things flowing in your cells and flushes out any toxins that may have been stimulated during the session.
You may have some emotions that come up to the surface to be released and this is completely normal. Be extra compassionate with yourself and try and observe any feelings with care and without judgement.
Try and get plenty of rest and avoid any strenuous activities, if possible.
If you enjoy journalling, sometimes people like to write about their experience and what came up for them so they can reflect.
If you’re able to, I also recommend that clients spend some time in nature and do grounding exercises to help extend the benefits of Reiki.
